ہے شعرِ عجَم گرچہ طرب ناک و دل آویز
اس شعر سے ہوتی نہیں شمشیرِ خودی تیز
افسُردہ اگر اس کی نَوا سے ہو گُلستاں
بہتر ہے کہ خاموش رہے مُرغِ سحَر خیز
وہ ضرب اگر کوہ شکن بھی ہو تو کیا ہے
جس سے مُتزلزل نہ ہُوئی دولتِ پرویز
اقبالؔ یہ ہے خارہ تراشی کا زمانہ
’از ہر چہ بآئینہ نمایند بہ پرہیز‘
