Could we have a real community portal here, with links to policy and community-discussion pages?

For instance, is there is no way to suggest something for deletion other than by listing it on the scriptorium as a general question?

script on,

It looks kind of messy. Why aren't all the languages dispatched to Wikisource:Scriptorium:English and Wikisource:Scriptorium:Deutsch and Wikisource:Scriptorium:Francais or something like that because English version / French version / German version / Chinese version for every single phrase gets very annoying.

Two things[edit]

First, the Scriptorium really needs another archive, through July or so, because the page is very long. Second, I think we should only have the header, etc., translated for languages that are here, not in their own subdomains. Each subdomain has its own scriptorium anyway, so we don't need to welcome those users here, right? --Cromwellt|talk 23:53, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Could you explain? What you said is a little confusing.96.53.149.117 12:53, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

6 Tabs At The Top[edit]

Edits are being protected. I requested uprotection. In the mean time, I'll post what I wanted here"

I don't care how the tabs are arranged, be they 3 by 2 or 6 by 1, but 6 tabs, instead of 4 needs to be implemented.

What I am talking about is that, say, for this page, we have "project page", "discussion", "edit this page", and "history", at the top. These are for navigational, editing, forensic, and learning purposes. Now, this isn't very user friendly, and people have argued that having 6 instead of the 4 we have now would make it more clumsy. And that if anons made an account, they could use CSS to implement this. Well some anons don't like making accounts. And it is more clumsy right now, and confusing, where by pressing the discussion tab, and then edit, it is counter-intuitive. People also lose thoughts, depending on their connection speed, by having to wait for extra pages to load. It's even hard to understand with the 4 tabs switch over system that is used right now.

Another problem are the templates: going to Template:Navbox Province of Italy, at its top left corner, you will see vde. This too needs the 3 other analogs. You can put them in 3 by 2, or 6 by 1, but for the same reasons above, specifically for server resource times/loading times and userfriendlyness/navigational ease.96.53.149.117 12:59, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

how about new languages - like Indic languages and their content??[edit]

Hi

I wanted to know where can I upload original religious texts in Indic Languages like Hindi, Sanskrit or Telugu ??

Shailendrar 13:23, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, For Telugu, there is a separate subdomain: te.wikisource.org/. For Hindi, there is a long-standing request to create a separate subdomain. For Sanskrit, there isn't a real active community, so texts are hosted here for now. Yann 14:33, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How to show page status on index pages?[edit]

Usually, page links on Wikisource’s index pages have a color-coded background; for example, a red background indicates that a page needs proofreading. However, on this index page, the page links at the bottom of the index page have no background color. Is something wrong about the index page? Or is it a bug in the software? Thanks for having a look. — Sascha (talk) 07:54, 28 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Sascha: For what it's worth, it is not displaying on other pages. I have seen this problem here and at en.ws a few times and it's usually due to an update in MediaWiki software. —Justin (koavf)TCM 08:13, 28 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Need help uploading:[edit]

I just uploaded an Internet Archive PDF file of Antoni Edward Odyniec's play Barbara Radziwillóna to Wikimedia Commons, and am now trying to create the index, though it appears that the difficulty is in getting it onto the Polish Wikisource (Wikizrodla) to make the proper pagelist. Any help to be provided for this would be greatly appreciated.
